Terms of Service
Effective 23 October 2026
This is the agreement between you and Dovri Technologies LLC. Please read the second section carefully — it is the one that most often surprises people, and it is the one that matters most if something goes wrong.
1. What Dovri is
A savings circle is an arrangement among a group of people: everyone contributes the same amount each cycle, and each cycle one member receives the total. People have run them for generations under many names — susu, ajo, tanda, esusu, committee.
Dovri is software that keeps track of one. It records who is in your circle, what everyone agreed to contribute, whose turn it is, and whether each contribution arrived. That is the whole of what Dovri does.
2. What Dovri is not
These are the terms people most often assume otherwise, so they are stated first and plainly.
- Dovri is not a bank and takes no deposits. You never hold a balance with Dovri.
- Dovri does not move your contributions. You pay the receiving member directly, from your own bank or payment app. Your money never passes through Dovri, and Dovri never debits your account.
- Dovri does not guarantee, advance, insure or underwrite anyone’s contribution. If a member of your circle does not pay, the money is simply not there. Dovri does not make up the difference, and no one else does either.
- Dovri is not a lender and does not extend credit. Dovri Standing is an internal participation record. It is not a credit score, it is not reported to any credit bureau, and it has no effect on your credit.
- Dovri does not vouch for the people in your circle. Dovri does not verify their identity, their income, or their intention to pay.
3. Your circle is an agreement among its members
When you start or join a circle, you are making a commitment to the other members, not to Dovri. Dovri is not a party to it.
You are responsible for choosing who you save with. Invite people you know and trust. A circle is only as reliable as the people in it, and the most common way these arrangements fail is that someone stops paying after they have received their turn.
If a dispute arises between members, it is between those members. Dovri will show both sides the same record of what it observed — what was asked for, what arrived, and when — but Dovri cannot recover money for you, reverse a payment, or compel anyone to pay.
4. Contributing
When it is someone else’s turn, you pay them directly, using the payment method they chose — a bank transfer, Zelle, Cash App, Venmo or similar. Dovri shows you their handle and the amount. Sending the payment is something you do yourself, in your own bank or payment app.
You are responsible for paying the right person the right amount by the agreed date. Check the handle before you send. A payment sent to the wrong recipient cannot be reversed by Dovri.
5. Receiving, and how Dovri confirms it
When it is your turn, you link a bank account so Dovri can see contributions arrive. Linking is done through Plaid; Dovri never sees your bank credentials. You can unlink at any time. Only the receiving member links an account — if you are contributing this turn, you link nothing.
Dovri reads the transactions on that account and matches deposits against the members who owe you. Each contribution is marked one of three ways, and the app always shows you which:
- Confirmed automatically — Dovri matched a deposit in your account to that member.
- Confirmed by you — you told Dovri it arrived.
- Taken on the payer’s word — the member said they paid and you accepted that.
When Dovri cannot tell who sent a deposit, it will not guess. It asks you instead. This is deliberate: marking someone as paid when they have not paid is a worse error than asking you a question.
Dovri’s records reflect what it could observe. They are not proof of payment, and they are not a substitute for your own bank records.
6. The fee
Starting a circle, joining one and contributing are free.
Dovri charges the receiving member 2% of the contributions that actually arrived — not 2% of what was owed. If four of five members pay you, the fee is 2% of those four. If nobody pays, there is no fee.
This is the only money Dovri collects, and it is collected from you, by Dovri, for Dovri’s service. It is separate from the contributions themselves, which never pass through us.
Dovri Plus is an optional subscription billed monthly. You can cancel at any time and it stops at the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund partial months.
7. Who can use Dovri
- You must be at least 18 years old and resident in the United States.
- You must give accurate information and keep it current — in particular the payment handle other members will send money to.
- One account per person.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@joindovri.com if you believe someone else has access to it.
Circles are currently invitation-only. Features described on this site that are not yet available in the app are not part of this agreement until they are.
8. Things you agree not to do
- Use Dovri to launder money, to defraud anyone, or for any unlawful purpose.
- Pretend to be someone else, or create an account on behalf of someone who has not asked you to.
- Mark a contribution as received when it was not, or claim to have paid when you have not.
- Attempt to gain access to accounts, data or systems that are not yours.
We may suspend or close an account that does any of these, or that puts other members at risk.
9. Closing your account
You can close your account at any time. If you are in an active circle, closing does not release you from what you agreed with the other members, and it does not entitle you to a refund of fees already charged.
We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering the service. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first.
What happens to your information afterwards is set out in the Privacy Policy.
10. The service is provided as it is
We work to keep Dovri accurate and available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Bank connections break, payment providers go down, and a transaction may be delayed or described by a bank in a way Dovri cannot match. To the fullest extent the law allows, Dovri is provided “as is” and without warranties of any kind.
You remain responsible for your own records. Do not rely on Dovri as your only evidence of a payment.
11. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Dovri is not liable for contributions another member fails to make, pays late, or pays to the wrong place. That money was never ours and never passed through us.
- Dovri is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits or lost savings.
- Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid Dovri in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Some states do not allow certain limitations, in which case those limitations do not apply to you.
12. Changes to these terms
If we make a change that materially affects your rights, we will email you and show a notice in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Dovri after that date means you accept the change. The date at the top shows when this version took effect.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that is not resolved between us will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and we each consent to that jurisdiction.
Nothing here removes any right you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived.
14. The whole agreement
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Dovri Technologies LLC about the service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
